The Greater Burlington Floor Hockey Club unveiled, on the opening night of its fall 2010 season, a new league championship trophy. The trophy, a silver cup set on a wooden base, was named the Giroux Cup by the Board of Directors, to commensurate the foundation of the Club by founder and current Club Treasurer Mario Dupigny-Giroux. Club President Dave Poulin and Club Secretary Pierre Heroux were at the origin of the naming of the Cup. The Giroux Cup will replace the “cardboard” Stanley Cup that winning teams had proudly hoisted in the air at the conclusion of each playoffs in recent years. The cup will next be up for grab on December 20, 2010, when two of the six teams of the fall 2010 league will battle for the honor of having their names engraved on the trophy. As decided by the Board, the Giroux Cup already displays the names of the players who won the Winter and the Spring championships in 2010.
